Recent Comments Feature

Looking into blogger "gadgets" I found the "Recent Comments" gadget.

So, I decided to add this right below the contribuitors section and now we are able to see any comment in our entire blog!

My Oracle Support

There we go!!

Oracle Support is online and as I can see, with many improvements!!

Oracle is doing a great job acting with pro-activity to manage and solve user's (in this case, OUR) problems!

The dashboard and many other sections are ENTIRELLY running on FLASH; it load very straight and fast (well, my connection at home is 8MB; please let me know if have performance issues in slower internet connections).

My last case was there with all details, I clicked on "Upload" link on attachment, and a screen pop-up to upload options... Very cool!

Well, let's see what's happen during the week!

OracleMetaLink 3 Upgrade to My Oracle Support Begins August 28, 2009

ATTN: PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Siebel, and Hyperion Support Customers & Partners

Oracle Global Customer Support is pleased to announce the launch of Oracle’s new online support portal, My Oracle Support. This coming weekend, August 28-30, 2009, Oracle will upgrade Oracle MetaLink 3 and officially change the name to "My Oracle Support." This transition will migrate existing OracleMetaLink 3 customers and partners (those using PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Siebel, and Hyperion products) to My Oracle Support at

This upgrade will not affect your current login credentials, Support Identifiers, or Service Request numbers; however, during the transition period, OracleMetaLink 3 will be temporarily unavailable. For any online support tasks or Service Requests needs during the upgrade weekend, please contactGlobal Customer Support via telephone.

During System Downtime
Beginning at approximately 8:00 p.m. PDT on Friday, August 28, 2009, access to the Oracle MetaLink 3 portal will be unavailable. This means that typical tasks such as searching the Knowledge Base, viewing Service Requests, and downloading patches will be restricted.

We strongly encourage you to download any patches you may need over the upgrade weekend prior to 8:00 p.m. PDT on August 28, 2009. For any online support tasks or Service Requests needs during the upgrade weekend, please contact Global Customer Support via telephone.

Upon completion of the upgrade, Oracle MetaLink 3 will automatically redirect you to My Oracle Support, at which time you can begin using My Oracle Support.

Adobe Flash Player Requirements
Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.115 or higher is required to use My Oracle Support; therefore, you must have a supported version of Flash Player installed. You'll find more information about the necessary Flash Player requirement by reading the Prepare for the Upgrade to My Oracle Supportdocument on Oracle MetaLink 3.

Oracle Support customers and partners using Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Database, Fusion Middleware, WebLogic, and BEA products should continue to use My Oracle Support / Classic MetaLink for support needs until these products are also migrated. This upgrade is planned to occur later this year. Details will follow at a later date.

Service-enable JD Edwards EnterpriseOne with Oracle SOA Suite 11gR1

In this tutorial, we show how to implement native web services integration to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne from Oracle SOA Suite 11gR1.
There are several new features in Fusion Middleware 11g that enable the creation of Service Oriented Architectures with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications and to develop business processes and composite applications using the relevant Fusion Middleware technology.

New features include:
* Simplified development experience via support for Service Component Architecture and the SOA Composite Editor (JDeveloper)
*Enhanced human workflow offers new JSF based rich client framework, ADF task flow forms and integration with Microsoft Office

Tutorial overview
JD Edwards EnterpriseOne supports native web services and exposes a number of functions as Business Services. We show how BPEL makes a service call out to a JD Edwards web service to retrieve the customer credit information. The resulting data is then transformed to output only the fields of interest.

Software Used
*JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Apps 8.12 with Tools 8.97
*Oracle SOA Suite version 11gR1 (available for download from OTN)
*Oracle JDeveloper version 11gR1 (available for download from OTN)

The main process steps are:
1.Generate a WSDL in EnterpriseOne for Customer Credit information*
2.Create a synchronous BPEL process to consume this WSDL.
3.Transform the resulting output from getCustomerCreditInfo operation into the desired format.

Deploying Oracle Database Vault to protect JD Edwards Application Data Just Got Easier

Oracle Database Vault has now been certified with Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and you can download default policies to make deployment even easier. The default policies will establish the following realms:

Application Protection Realm to prevent privileged users from accessing sensitive information;
Configuration Protection Realm to protect the application meta data against unauthorized changes; and,
Command Rule to authorize the JD Edwards application connections to the Oracle Database based on IP address and client application.
Whta do these policies do? The first one limits privileged database users like DBAs from accessing the application data. They can still perform operational database functions but just can't read or update the data.
The second one protects the application itself by making sure there are no unauthorized changes to the application meta data that determines application behavior.
The third policy prevents access to the application data stored in the database from their desktop using Toad or some other ad-hoc query tool they can just download off the Internet.
Database Vault works inside the Oracle database so it's transparent to the JD Edwards applications. The default policies are just to get you started and make deployment faster. You can also add additional policies or customize the default ones. With Database Vault you can pretty much control every aspect of who, how, where, and when data is accessed so you can enforce pretty much any database security policy. For example, one customer added a policy that prevents any JD Edwards EnterpriseOne schema changes during their business hours.
